An official website of the City of Kyle, Texas government
About

Open government, by default

The City of Kyle Open Data Portal makes the city's public records easy to find, understand, and reuse — from budgets and financial reports to police data and utility rates. Free to download, free to reuse, no account required.

Why open data

Transparency builds trust. Publishing data in open, machine-readable formats lets residents hold their government accountable, helps journalists and researchers tell Kyle's story with evidence, and lets developers build tools on top of public information. Today the portal hosts 62 datasets from 6 departments, with more onboarding.

Open Data Policy

All public records are released under the Open Data Commons Attribution License unless restricted by law. You may copy, distribute, and build upon the data, including for commercial use, as long as you credit the City of Kyle.

How it works

The portal is powered by CKAN, the open-source data management system used by governments worldwide. Every dataset is available through a documented JSON API and a DCAT-US catalog — see the Developers page.
